Keeping Carpets Clean

Friday, July 1st, 2011

You may have wondered how a carpet stays clean with numerous pets and three kids while others look like a battleground of Kool-aid, odors, and grime. It might be because one of these people understands that to keep your carpets clean and fresh, you have to act before the accidents. There are a number of preventative measures for keeping your carpets clean, even if you have four kids, two dogs, and a cat.

No Shoes

Making all the difference in the livelihood of your carpet is this one rule. Before, we will ensure the no shoes rule all the time because we often start with good intentions. But then laziness will set in and then everyone will be walking on your nice, clean carpet with their dirty shoes. If you want your carpet to remain permanently cleaner, then you need to enforce the no shoes rule all the time.

No food

The no food rule on the carpet is another common sense and important rule. Try to do your best because it’s understandable that this rule is harder to enforce if you have kids. Food and liquids, in addition to pets, are your carpet’s worst nightmare.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming should be done at least once a week but it’s better if you vacuum more. Dirt and dust will be kept from building up and dust and allergies will be kept at bay. Don’t forget to vacuum beneath your furniture.

Steam cleaning

A great way to ensure the longevity of your carpets is to steam clean them. Depending on the state of your carpet, rent a steam cleaner or hire professionals every four to six months. If you’re worried about the price then shop around because the price ranges can dramatically differ for the same service.

Stains should be removed immediately

The longer you let them sit, the longer they have to soak in which is why stains should be immediately cleaned up. Blot at the stain with a mild soap like dish detergent (Dawn and Joy are great), but never scrub. Scrubbing a stain can cause it to spread and wear the fibers of your carpet. Besides mild detergents, vinegar and club soda also work well. If these methods didn’t work or if the stains are darker and caused by wine, juice, or pet accidents, and what you can do is sprinkle baking soda or salt over the stain and after you’ve let it soak in, vacuum it up. Avoid using heat to dry a stain because it will seal it into your carpet.

To ensure your carpet’s longetivity and beauty, the easiest way is to keep your carpet clean. This is easy enough and you just have to remind yourself to be faithful to your carpet. It should last many years and many guests to come as long as you treat it well.

5 Mistakes To Avoid When Choosing A Professional Carpet Cleaner Fort Wayne

Sunday, January 9th, 2011

There are 5 costly mistakes you can make when choosing a professional carpet cleaner that can cause you nothing but headaches. In this article I would like to help save you the headache as well as money if you decide to hire a company to come in and clean your carpets.

Mistake # 1 -Choosing a professional carpet cleaner based on equipment alone:

No question, your professional carpet cleaner needs first-rate equipment. But they also need something else. They need technicians who are skilled at operating the equipment. Many companies own the right equipment, but very few companies teach their employees how to use them properly. The best way to know that the carpet cleaner’s employees have been properly trained is to make sure the cleaner has been certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). Before you choose a professional carpet cleaner, ask the company if they are certified.

Mistake # 2 – Choosing a professional carpet cleaner based on low price:

Low price could be a problem in three ways:

1.Low price can be the bait that attracts your phone call. But once the cleaner gets into your home, they pressure you into a much more expensive job. 2.Low price can be for single-process cleaning. Rarely does the consumer know what this means and, when told, asks for dual-process cleaning instead, which costs much more. 3.Low price means the professional carpet cleaner has cheap equipment, which will not effectively clean your carpet.

Mistake # 3 – Choosing a professional carpet cleaner based on a single telephone call:

Instead, invite them to your home and ask for specific price quotation. Then you’ll know exactly what the carpet cleaner recommends – and you won’t be the victim of high-pressure sales tactic when the technician steps into your living room.

Mistake # 4 – Choosing a professional carpet cleaner who doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee:

In my view, every carpet cleaning company should be fully accountable for their work. And if you aren’t pleased with the job, you shouldn’t have to pay for it. Period! Not all carpet cleaners offer a guarantee. Or, if they do, the guarantee may be “limited”. Ask the professional carpet cleaner if they offer a complete money-back guarantee.

Mistake # 5 – Choosing a professional carpet cleaner with out getting comments from his other clients:

Any carpet cleaner can say anything about his past jobs. And, sadly some of what they say may not be true. Make sure you ask for references or read comments from current customers so you can depend on the carpet cleaner and their work. Any professional carpet cleaner that does quality work should be able to provide you with references from their past and current clients.

In Closing:

If your looking to hire a professional carpet cleaner Fort Wayne. I highly recommend you study and review the 5 mistakes I’ve listed above. By knowing this information you will be less likely to fall victim to unscrupulous, un-professional carpet cleaners.

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Carpet Cleaning.

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Depending how you look at it there can be many pros and cons to cleaning your carpets. Lets go and check out a few points when it comes to carpet cleaning.

Professional cleaning:

1. You don’t need to fight with a carpet cleaner. They can be big and bulky and hard to operate.

2. You are hiring someone that knows what they are doing and have dealt with different stains and different carpets.

3. Because they are professional they are aware of different allergies that are in the carpets and what to use depending on your preference.

There are downsides:

1. You will be asked to leave for the time that they are estimated to be there.

2. You the customer have to move your furniture to a central location or they clean around the furniture

3. They might damage your belongings.

4. It becomes costly to have someone clean your carpets. Depending on the rooms you have and the size of each room.

Home Cleaning:

1. You can take your time and do one room at a time if you own your own cleaner.

2. You can clean your carpets anytime you wish without the high cost of someone coming to your home.

3. You can chose to clean the whole carpet or just little pieces.

The downside of doing it your yourself:

1. If you need to rent your cleaner you can only have it for a certain time.

2. Your pro cleaners use different equipment so the carpet might not seem as clean as if you had them do it because their machine is more powerful.

3. The carpet will still feel really damp when you are done.

4. Powerful stains might fade but not come out all the way.

If you are the do it yourself kind of gal/guy then cleaning your carpet yourself is just up your alley. A lot of people just do not have the time or energy and feel it is easier to leave home and see a dirty carpet and come back to a nice clean carpet. This way they can spend their day off doing something that they enjoy.

Really it is just a matter of opinion to what you prefer and your financial situation. I personally don’t enjoy the thought of someone in my home when I am not there to watch what they are doing. I enjoy doing the work myself because I know I will always be satisfied with the work that I do and after using my new machine 3 times it paid for itself. The average machine costs from $99 to $300 but again it just depends on what you prefer. You can pay more then that just to have someone out to your house once.
